Dans cette leçon, tu apprends à reconnaître et utiliser les phrasal verbs, ces verbes anglais composés d’un verbe + une petite particule comme up, out, off, on ou into.
Image simple : le verbe donne l’action de base, et la particule change souvent la direction, l’intention ou le résultat. Petit mot, grand effet.

Signal à repérer : si un verbe simple est suivi d’une particule comme up, out, off, on, back ou into, tu as peut-être un phrasal verb.
Please fill in the form before Friday.
Complète le formulaire avant vendredi.
I will follow up with the client tomorrow.
Je ferai un suivi avec le client demain.

La structure de base

Séparable ou inséparable ?
ChoisirCertains phrasal verbs peuvent être séparés par un complément. D’autres restent ensemble. C’est l’un des pièges les plus fréquents.

Phrasal verbs avec up, out, off et back

Astuce
À surveiller : les phrasal verbs sont naturels, mais ils doivent rester clairs. En contexte très formel, un verbe simple peut parfois être préférable.
À éviter / à faire :
- À éviter : Please fill the form in it. → À faire : Please fill it in.
- À éviter : We looked the problem into. → À faire : We looked into the problem.
- À éviter : I will get back you tomorrow. → À faire : I will get back to you tomorrow.
Alternatives plus formelles
ComparerLes phrasal verbs sont très naturels, surtout à l’oral et dans les emails. Pour un rapport formel, tu peux parfois choisir un verbe plus neutre.
